The power and influence YouTubers have on the beauty world is undeniable. The names Jaclyn Hill and Carli Bybel mean just as much to many teenagers as Selena Gomez and Kendall Jenner. With the continually growing popularity of YouTubers, it should come as no surprise that many have begun collaborating with beloved makeup brands on new products. YouTube beauty vloggers put their hearts and souls into their makeup products – they don’t want to disappoint their millions of fans. As a result, the launches we’ve seen so far have been pretty spectacular. Keep reading for ten of the most exciting new and soon-to-be-released makeup collabs you need to know.
BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection: Jaclyn Hill is one of a kind. She truly cares about her fans, and the products she puts out for them. She recently expanded her Champagne Pop collection for BECCA Cosmetics to include an exciting new face palette, liquid and cream versions of Champagne Pop and an eyeshadow palette. I purchased the eyeshadow palette immediately, and was so disappointed to see that the pigmentation and quality did not meet my expectations. Fast forward to a week later, and Jaclyn released a statement saying the shadow palette did not meet her standards and BECCA will be discontinuing it. That shows so much respect for your dedicated fans – it proves she won’t push a product simply because she can profit off of it. That being said, the rest of the products in the collection are worth the splurge – they’re phenomenal. The face palette should be back in stock with a week or two – make sure to get it before it sells out again!
Jeffree Star Skin Frost: Jeffree Star’s eponymous brand is one of the most beloved indie makeup brands out there. The line is most popular for their wide range of Velour Liquid Lipsticks, which sit comfortably on your lips and last forever. For the summer, the brand is expanding with the Skin Frost collection of highlighters. With eye-catching hot pink packaging and gigantic pans, these illuiminators are really something. There are four shades, but the standout is Ice Cold. If you have fair skin, this will be your holy grail highlighter. The pigmentation is blindingly intense, but that’s what most people want from their highlighters.
Tarte x Shayla Tartest Contour Palette: Tarte released their first contour palette a few months back, and it was a major success. It consisted of six pans encased in a sleek compact – ideal for traveling. Now they’re releasing an updated version of the palette in collaboration with YouTube and Instagram phenom MakeupShayla that’s formulated to better suit deeper skin tones. If the quality of the powders is as good as the first Tarteist palette, this will be a runaway hit. It will be available on TarteCosmetics.com on June 19th at 5 PM PST.
Ofra Cosmetics x Kathleen Lights Miami Fever Liquid Lipstick: Kathleen Lights has this uncanny ability to speak to her fans like they’re her friends, just casually discussing her love of makeup – she’s so real, and that’s why she has so many followers. Everyone I ask names her as one of their favorite YouTubers. That’s why every time she releases a new collaboration, I run to get my hands on it – I trust that if she puts it out, it’s something worth buying. Out of all of her collaborations (she’s done many products in conjunction with ColourPop), my favorite is Miami Fever, a liquid lipstick she created with Ofra Cosmetics. There are so many liquid lipsticks out there, but I’ve never seen a color quite like Miami Fever. It can best be described as a warm, burnt orange-red. It’s somehow both one-of-a-kind and universally flattering – the kind of color everyone should have in their collection.
BH Cosmetics x Carli Bybel Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette: This palette was very tricky to get your hands on – it seemed like every time BH put it back in stock, it sold out within minutes. Luckily, this week ULTA added it to its online store…and it’s surprisingly still available! This is a no-brainer, guilt-free purchase: the pigmentation, colors and quality are great, and this price is ultra affordable. With a mix of shadows and four highlighters (which you can use as eyeshadows as well), it has everything you need for a summertime look. Love, love, love Carli Bybel for giving her fans a product that’s both inexpensive and signature Carly glam.
Too Faced x NikkieTutorials The Power of Makeup Face Palette: Counting down ’til August, when NikkieTutorials’ highly anticipated Too Faced palette will arrive at Sephora and Ulta. This all-in-one set features nine richly pigmented eyeshadows, two blushes, a bronzer, highlighter, a special edition purple Better Than Sex mascara, eyeshadow primer, a pigment and a full-size black eyeliner. Leave it to Nikkie to include so many incredible products in one set. This would make a perfect gift for any makeup lover, and especially someone who dares to go bold with their color choices. Can’t wait to try this!!
BH Cosmetics x Shaaanxo Eyeshadow & Lipstick Palette: Shaaanxo is famous for her lip swatch videos – literally every color looks good on her! – so it’s nice that she included lipsticks in her BH palette. The double-sided palette, which is perfect for traveling, features nine eyeshadows on one side and nine lipsticks on the other. The shadows are wearable neutrals, in both matte and shimmer finishes. The lipsticks come in a wide variety of shades, from nudes to brights to plums. At only $14.50, this is a pretty fantastic deal.
Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bawse by Lilly Singh: Smashbox’s new line of liquid lipsticks is unbelievable. Richly saturated, matte, comfortable on the lips, a wide range of colors…everything you could want in a liquid lippie. One of the colors – Bawse, a classic red – was created in collaboration with Lilly Singh. Lilly is huge on YouTube, but the interesting part is that she’s not a beauty guru. She’s a hilarious comedian, with almost nine million subscribers, who will definitely be supporting her by picking up this red lippie.
ColourPop x Jenn Im Jenn Ne Sais Quoi Collection: ColourPop is always collaborating with an diverse and intriguing mix of celebrities, and their latest collab with YouTube sensation Jenn Im just might be the prettiest collection yet! The four shadows in the collection are supremely wearable neutral shades that can be built up to create a dreamy smoky eye. The shadows are complemented by three orangey coral lippies, the standout being the Ultra Satin Lip in Dohee. It’s the perfect summer lip color, and that satin formula is a must-try.
Violet Voss x Laura Lee Palette: Laura Lee has such an infectious, firecracker personality, and that shines through in her new mega palette for Violet Voss. Packed with versatile, warm colors in both matte and shimmery finishes, this palette has everything you need for any time of look. Go glam and smoky for a big night out, or stick to the neutrals for a subtle daytime look. The possibilities are endless.
