DIY PROM HAIR

For prom, the ideal look is something that won’t make you laugh with regret in ten years. Here are four hairstyles that are beautiful, young and, best of all, easy to do at home. Try them for prom or just a night out.

RETRO WAVES

Step 1: Wrap two-inch pieces of your hair around a curling iron, starting at the front. Hold for a few seconds. Slip the iron out and pin the curl to your head.

Step 2: Curl all over and pin to your head. Spray stronghold hairspray (try Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold) over your entire head. Let your hair cool for 20-25 minutes.

Step 3: Remove the bobby pins and spritz a lightweight hairspray (try Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Hairspray) all over. Finish by running your fingers through the curls.

SLEEK PONYTAIL

Step 1: Apply a smoothing product (Kiehl’s Deeply Restorative Smoothing Hair Oil Concentrate) to damp hair and blow-dry using a round brush.

Step 2: Flatiron one-inch sections of your hair.

Step 3: Gather your hair into a high ponytail and secure in a hooked elastic. Wrap a small piece around the elastic to cover it.

TOPKNOT

Step 1: Blow-dry your hair and spritz with hairspray. Brush hair into a high pony.

Step 2: Twist or simply wrap your hair around the elastic to create a smooth knot and secure with a second elastic.

Step 3: Pin any loose pieces, and smooth any flyways with hairspray.

MESSY UPDO

Step 1: Run a dollop of volumizing cream (Ojon Volume Advance Animated Volumizing Cream) through damp hair, and roughly blow-dry your hair to create texture.

Step 2: Gather hair into a ponytail at the back of your head. Twist the pony into a messy bun and secure with bobby pins.

Step 3: Spritz with stronghold spray so your hair stays in place all night.
