DIY PROM MAKEUP

LET YOUR SKIN GLOW

If you’re not a heavy makeup girl, make sure your skin is radiating. Use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20. Top with a soft peach blush like CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach. Coat lips with a nude gloss, like L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipgloss in Barely Nude. Rather than cover your eyes in shadow and liner, just curl lashes and use lots of black mascara (Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest Black is a fantastic, inexpensive option).

LIPS DO THE TALKING

Pick a color, any color. From red to wine to fuchsia, choose a bold lipstick to be the focal point of your look (a personal favorite is MAC’s Ruby Woo). Keep the rest of the look simple with a soft pink blush (Bobbi Brown Pastel Pink Blush), a bit of black liner (Sephora Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner in Black) and black mascara (e.l.f. Studio Volume Plumping Mascara).

SMOKEY EYES

Take a softer approach to the popular smokey eye look by using shades of brown instead of black and grays. Use a brown pencil (Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Hustle) to line both upper and lower lash lines. Lightly dust a soft brown shadow (MAC’s Cork is great and has a satin finish) and blend up into the brow bones. Add illuminator to your cheekbones to create a fresh look (try NYX Illuminator).

BRIGHT EYES

Colored liner is a perfect, fun prom look. Sephora has a wide range of liners (25 Green Shimmer is a sophisticated choice). Line your inner top lash line with black pencil, then apply the colored liner along your top and bottom outer lash lines. Coat lips with a pink gloss (like Bobbi Brown’s Confetti) and coat lashes with black mascara (try Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes! in Rich Black).

ALL IN ONE

For the girl who wants to find all of her makeup in one place, Benefit’s I’m Glam… Therefore I Am kit is perfect. The set includes Girl Meets Pearl highlighter, powder, lip shine, BADgal lash mascara, an eyeshadow palette and a double-ended sponge applicator. The cute packaging is irresistible.
