Look Good Feel Better is a public service program of the American Cancer Society & Personal Care Products Council, which helps women look and feel beautiful while dealing with the physical side effects of cancer treatment. Its official website says, “Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite, and strength. But it doesn’t have to take away her self-confidence.” This admirable mission is accomplished through complimentary group, individual and self-help beauty sessions. A real community is created based on experience, support and courage.
The largest event for the program is the annual Dream Ball gala, which is held every September at Cipriani 42nd Street. Beauty industry professionals gather for this incredible night, which raised $2.4 million last year. Editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan, Joanna Coles, and actress Milla Jovovich joined host Sade Baderinwa at the 2012 gala, to present awards to beauty veterans Tim Quinn (of L’Oreal’s Giorgio Armani Beauty) and Fran Crane (of Hearst Magazines), who are cancer survivors. 2013’s Dream Ball is set for Thursday, September 26.
Cancer doesn’t discriminate, and it affects hundreds of thousands every single day. This amazing program helps over 50,000 women with their struggle. To learn more about what you can do, please visit http://lookgoodfeelbetter.org/.
