Quick and Easy Everyday Contour

Everyday Contour

At one point last year, contouring became one of the most hyped about beauty techniques. A plethora of contour kits, from creams to powders, hit the market and I bought quite a few of them. I love the effect of a proper contour… the sculpted cheekbones, the defined jawline. It just changed the way I did my makeup.

The kits are fun to play with, but more often than not I found myself using, at most, three shades from an entire kit. I even took a Dress Your Face class that taught me to do the ultimate in contour: the caked-on, baked version. The class was a lot of fun, and I picked up some really great techniques. Here’s a pic of me looking like a zebra.

As much as I love applying makeup and getting myself all “glammed” up, doing a full contour every day just isn’t realistic. I simply do not have the time or feel like whipping out a ton of products for my morning routine. I was on a quest to find an easy way to contour. One day while I was browsing Sephora’s website I came across a Clinique Chubby Stick for Sculpting and Contour, added it to cart and became the proud owner of an awesome contour stick!!

Swatches in Natural Light

So why do I love it? The texture is soft and creamy. It glides over my foundation like a dream. I do a few quick swipes under my cheekbones, on my temples and forehead. Then, I turn the stick on the side (for a slimmer line as it is a Chubby Stick) and swipe the stick down the sides of my nose. I quickly apply my Tarte concealer  in a “V” under my eyes, and blend it all together with a damp Beauty Blender, using tapping motions. This literally takes me under a minute to do. The color is just right for my medium olive skin. Slightly warm in tone, and not orange, it gives my face added depth that I love. It looks surprisingly natural for everyday makeup. One of the best features of this stick, besides it being easy to blend, is that it twists up, so no sharpening necessary. EASY BREEZY! I actually prefer not to set the contour with powder – I like that slightly dewy look, but sometimes I add a little Tarte Park Avenue Princess for some extra staying power.
