THE SECRET TO LONG, FULL LASHES: LASH SERUM 101

unnamed

Gorgeous, thick lashes are fairly easy to achieve thanks to volumizing mascaras and falsies, but wouldn’t it be amazing to wake up with fluttery eyelashes every morning? Lash serum makes that dream a reality. Everyone has seen the infomercials for Latisse and other prescription-strength eyelash growth serums, but in recent years different brands have been releasing more readily-accessible versions. You can pop into your local drugstore makeup aisle and find a miracle-working serum for under $10! For more details on lash serum, plus some of our favorites, keep reading.

Most lash serums are easy to use. Depending on the individual product, the application is different, but generally, apply the clear serum to your lash line like you would a liquid liner. Apply it before bed on clean eyes. For optimal results, many of the serum brands recommend also applying it in the mornings. Twice daily application is strongly recommended for women over 50. If you wear contacts or have sensitive eyes, look for an ophthalmologist-tested-and-approved serum that won’t cause irritation. Additionally, if you experience ongoing irritation, discontinue using the product.
RAPID LASH EYELASH ENHANCING SERUM

RAPID LASH EYELASH ENHANCING SERUM: With key ingredients like biotin and soybean oil (for shine), this lash serum pulls double duty since you can also apply it to the sparse areas of your brows. Shaped like a liquid liner, just apply once a day to bare lashes right before bed. Make sure there is absolutely no makeup residue on your eyes.  You should be able to see a difference in four weeks. ($50)

RIMMEL LASH ACCELERATOR SERUM

RIMMEL LASH ACCELERATOR SERUM: This drugstore gem rings in under ten dollars, so it’s a great way to get familiar with serums. I was initially skeptical of the ultra-low price tag, but the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. It can be used on brows as well, and in just a few weeks, you should be able to see noticeable growth. ($10)

GRANDE LASH MD EYELASH AND EYEBROW FORMULA

GRANDE LASH MD EYELASH AND EYEBROW FORMULA: GrandeLASH promises results in 4-6 weeks – and Pampadour founder Jennifer can attest to that! She uses this serum for thick, full lashes. With a unique blend of vitamins and botanicals, you can feel safe about using this natural product on your delicate lashes. You can also apply it to your brows to make that Cara Delevingne dream a reality. At $65, it’s not cheap, but for visible results, it’s worth it! ($65)

Cos10d_1_pack-shot

L’OREAL CONCENTRATED LASH BOOSTING SERUM: The drugstore Holy Grail. At $15, this is a steal compared to many other lash boosting serums. On top of that, it really works! The uniquely curved applicator ensures you reach every single lash, meaning you can also use it on your lower lash line if you choose to. ($15)

REVITALASH ADVANCED

REVITALASH ADVANCED: RevitaLash’s Advanced Eyelash Conditioner is one of those products I constantly hear about. It truly works. The serum delivers on growing your lashes to their best, plus it has nourishing ingredients that can protect them for breaking in the future. It’s usually sold for a steep $100, but Drugstore.com has it available for $69 right now! ($69)

TALIKA LIPOCILS CONDITIONING GEL

TALIKA LIPOCILS CONDITIONING GEL: Rather than the ‘liquid liner’-shaped wand of the other serums, you apply Talika’s Lipocils like a mascara directly onto your lashes. Apply it twice a day on bare lashes for visible results in about a month. This cult classic uses natural ingredients like apple extract, nettle and witch hazel for a lash boost. ($44)

LASHFOOD PHYTO-MEDIC EYELASH ENHANCER

LASHFOOD PHYTO-MEDIC EYELASH ENHANCER: This powerful enhancing serum is natural and safe for sensitive eyes. Some people experience nasty side effects for lash serums, like redness or even burning, but LashFood’s is adamantly side-effect-free. It’s considered a ‘cosmetic alternative,’ meaning all the ingredients are either natural or organic and chemical-free. Anyone who’s hesitant about using a serum should try this! ($78)
