There was no shortage of bold, daring beauty looks at the 2017 SAG Awards. From Janelle Monae’s flower-adorned space buns to Sophia Bush’s bright pink eye look, it was an incredible night for hair and makeup inspiration. Keep reading for all of our favorites, and how to get the looks at home!
Sophia Bush: Hot pink shadow sounds impossible to pull off…but Sophia Bush did it effortlessly. Her makeup artist, the incomparable Patrick Ta, used Chanel color cosmetics and La Mer foundation for her bright, bold and flawless look. Rather than eyeshadow, Ta created her eye look with a combo of Chanel blushes and lipstick. He used several shades of Chanel Powder Blush, and added Chanel Rouge Allure in La Sensuelle for a pop.
Millie Bobby Brown: Is there anyone more beloved than Millie Bobby Brown right now? The Stranger Things breakout star has been a ray of light on the red carpet this season, and her SAGs look may be her most charming yet. Millie’s age-appropriate look (she’s only 12!) was sweet and simple, topped off with a thin, wiry headband slicking her short hair back.
Kerry Washington: Kerry’s look at the SAG Awards was simultaneously bold, elegant and sultry. That immaculate winged smoky eye is a perfect date night (or in this case, red carpet) look. Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez used Neutrogena products for her look (Washington is a brand ambassador). To get her eye look, use Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow in Smoky Steel, and line eyes with Nourishing Eyeliner in Cosmic Black. Her sleek, straight hair, styled by Takisha Sturdivant-Drew, was done with the one-of-a-kind Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer.
Natalie Portman: The always sophisticated Natalie Portman continued her Jackie Kennedy-inspired red carpet season with this understated, chic monotone look. The most interesting part of her routine? Makeup artist Pati Dubroff used a silicone sponge to apply her foundation! Silicone sponges have taken the beauty world by storm recently because it applies makeup flawlessly like a BeautyBlender, but doesn’t absorb any of the product. It’s also much quicker and easier to clean. Dubroff used the new MakeupDrop for Natalie’s look.
Maisie Williams: It’s so refreshing to see someone take a risk with their hair and makeup on the red carpet. Beauty is meant to be fun. Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams channeled her inner vamp with her dramatic look. Her pin curls had an Old Hollywood feel, juxtaposed with her bold brows and deep lip. Makeup artist Kindra Mann used Lorac Pro Liquid Lipstick in Black Cherry and Lorac Alter Ego Lip Liner in Dominatrix for her precise pout.
Janelle Monae: Janelle Monae is one of those people who always brightens up a red carpet. From her hair to her makeup to her dress and accessories, everything is so meticulously detailed and beautiful. She truly cares about the image she’s projecting to the world. At the SAGs, Monae had her hair pulled up into two little space buns, adorned with silver flowers. As for her makeup, the CoverGirl spokesperson rocked purple lips courtesy of the brand’s Outlast All Day Lip Color in Vivid Violet.
Taraji P. Henson: Taraji P. Henson looked like a winner at the SAGs…even before her film won the biggest award of the night. She was absolutely glowing from the moment she arrived on that red carpet. Her makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff created a look that was all about luminous skin and soft eye makeup that perfectly complemented her Reem Acra ball gown. For her eyes, Sheriff used shadows from Taraji’s own sold-out MAC collection from the fall. For her impeccable highlight, she used the amazing Anastasia Glow Kit.
Kate Hudson: Kate took a departure from her signature bronzed beauty look at the SAGs. With her hair slicked back and her deep, vampy lips, she looked like a Cali girl with an edge. Makeup artist Debra Ferullo used a combo of the Bite Beauty Multistick in Cocoa and Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution in Glastonberry for her striking lip.
Emma Stone: The Best Actress winner embodied Old Hollywood glamour with her side-swept waves and piercing emerald eye makeup. Makeup artist Rachel Goodwin used NARS Eye Paint in Snake Eyes all over her lids, and complemented it with a bright pinky-coral lip. As always, her porcelain skin was fresh and luminous – no extreme contouring here.
Sophie Turner: All you need is a good red lip. Sophie Turner lived by that beauty mantra at the SAG Awards. Her perfect crimson lip was an exact color-match for her red Louis Vuitton gown. The key to keeping the look fresh is making sure the rest of the makeup is minimalistic. For a similar red lip, try NARS Audacious Lipstick in Lana.
