Awards season has officially begun! Stars stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet this past Sunday bringing their beauty A-game. From intricate updos to smoldering smoky eyes and bold lips, the beauty did not disappoint. Keep reading for our favorite looks of the night, plus details on how to achieve the gorgeous looks.
Emily Ratajkowski: Emrata’s makeup artist, Hung Vanngo, created this sultry, glam beauty look fit for a supermodel. The sexy look was all about a monochromatic peach eye and lip combo. All of the beauty products used were Chanel, including Eclat Lumiere for that gorgeous glow. As for her dramatic new cut? It’s an illusion. Hairstylist Christian Wood executed a ‘faux bob’ by expertly pinning up her long strands. The tousled, beach vibe is a winner.
Emma Stone: La La Land was last night’s big winner, so it makes sense the the film’s leading lady, the lovely Emma Stone, looked like pure perfection on the red carpet. With her ever-so-slightly-undone updo, plump pink lips, simple cat eye and signature, porcelain skin, Emma looked flawless. Makeup artist Rachel Goodwin used NARS’ Earthshine on the inner corner of her eyes, and NARS’ Rosecliff on her lips.
Lily Collins: Lily’s dramatic beauty look may not be for everyone, but credit for going for it. Her intricate, braided updo was a refreshing change from the sleek, modern styles we’re used to seeing on the red carpet lately. There was something unabashedly romantic about her entire look – she looked, for lack of a better word, like a princess. In a fun twist, her makeup artist, Fiona Stiles, used lip liner and blush to create her soft pink eye look. She used Lancome’s Le Lipstique in Natural Mauve as a base, then topped it with Lancome’s Blush Subtil in Aplum to intensify the look.
Kerry Washington: Kerry always kills it on the red carpet, and this look was no exception. Her deep-parted long, straight hair felt fresh and somehow edgy…a big departure from the bouncy curls she usually rocks as Olivia Pope. The standout part of her look was, without a doubt, that deep, vampy lip. Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez went for a high-low mix to achieve it by layering Dolce & Gabbana Glam 355 lipstick and Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Deep Plum.
Olivia Culpo: The beautiful Olivia Culpo looked like a movie star last night, from her whimsical hair to her flawless makeup and standout Zuhair Murad ball gown. Beyonce’s makeup artist, Sir John, created the monochromatic makeup look using all L’Oreal products. Take a cue from Sir John and blend your neutral smoky eye outward for a dramatic, sexy effect. As for her updo, hairstylist Justine Marjan executed this stunning, modern take on ‘milkmaid braids’ for her client.
Natalie Portman: Paying homage to the iconic woman she’s nominated for portraying on screen, Natalie Portman was giving off major Jackie O vibes at the Golden Globes. The contrast between that striking pink lip and her chartreuse gown was simply breathtaking. Her sleek, slightly voluminous half-up was a modern take on the First Lady’s classic bouffant. All that was missing was a pillbox hat…
Michelle Williams: There was something so immaculate and fresh about Michelle Williams’ look. Her short, platinum hair gave off Mia Farrow vibes…and not one hair was out of place. She also brought ‘no makeup’ beauty to the red carpet, with her minimalist, fresh-faced beauty. The one thing we need to know: hat is her skincare routine?! Her complexion is perfect.
Sofia Vergara: Sofia let her dress do the talking at the Golden Globes, pulling her hair back, and keeping her makeup fairly simple. To achieve her bronzy beauty look, makeup artist Kayleen McAdams used CoverGirl products (Vergara is a brand ambassador). She used CoverGirl’s Nudes TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette for her neutral smoky eye. She followed that up for multiple coats of So Lashy! Blast Pro Mascara in Extreme Black.
Isabelle Huppert: Best Actress winner Isabelle Huppert gave America a lesson in effortlessly chic Parisian beauty at the Globes. She wore her hair down in soft curls, and kept her makeup ultra-simple in the best way: just a few coats of mascara and a reddish-brown lipstick. Side note, an ear cuff has never looked so cool.
Viola Davis: Another big winner last night, Viola Davis looked head-to-toe perfect. Those arms!!!! Her beauty mantra was simple, glam and elegant, so as not to take any attention away from her striking yellow gown. The contrast of her bright gown against her deep, beautiful skin was stunning. It’s worth noting that her full, blunt bob is really working for her. Gorgeous.
Janelle Monae: Janelle Monae took one of the biggest beauty risks of the night (as she often does), and it definitely paid off. Her jaw-dropping hairstyle was exquisite – it was art. Her beautiful beehive, styled by Nikki Nelms, was accented by little pearls scattered throughout. Her glowing makeup was created by makeup artist Jessica P. Smalls using all CoverGirl products.
Kristen Bell: Kristen Bell has really stepped up her red carpet game the past few seasons – she is now one to watch on the carpet. For her Golden Globes beauty, makeup artist Simone Siegl used Neutrogena products. It was all about dewy skin – use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Bronzed to achieve the look. Her sultry, tousled hair was created by Davy Newkirk.
Mandy Moore: Wow. This is, undoubtedly, the best Mandy Moore has ever looked. Her cool beauty look had ‘70s vibes – a nod to her breakout role on This Is Us. Makeup artist Jenn Streicher used Caudalie Beauty Elixir before and after her makeup to leave her with a gorgeous glow. She mixed three Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour lipsticks (Indiscretion, Embrace and Aroused) for her nude lips.
Priyanka Chopra: Makeup artist Stephanie Brooke Barnes created Priyanka’s bold beauty look using Laura Mercier products. She used the Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation for her flawless face. For her eyes, she used the Eye Art Caviar Palette, and Stila’s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in the center of the lid for a pop. For the standout part of her look – that deep berry lip – Barnes mixed Laura Mercier’s Velour Lovers Lip Colour in the shades An Affair and Seduction.
