About a week ago, a story went viral about a grandmother’s jaw-dropping, stunning makeup transformation. It reminded me of the incredible #PowerOfMakeup. Makeup has the ability to bring out your confidence, play up your most beautiful features and get your creative juices flowing. Keep reading for some incredible before-and-after makeup transformations and get inspired!
If you have dark circles under your eyes, creating a smoky eye is a surefire way to temporarily cover up the darkness. @MarthaMUA’s client’s under-eye circles are undetectable in the after photo. To create the perfect lower lash line smoky effect, you need a good pencil brush (like the Sigma E30) and an easy-to-blend dark shadow. The creamy shadows in LORAC’s PRO Palette blend like a dream.
When it comes to makeup, I personally believe a flawless base is the most important step. @MarthaMUA used Graftobian Makeup’s Warm Palette to conceal her client’s dark spots, and, as a result, she looks years younger. She also used the absolutely unbelievable Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown to draw natural-looking, full arches.
This photo of Heidi Hamoud shows her entire getting ready process: before, during, baking and after. You can see that she used an orange under-eye corrector to conceal her dark circles. This is a little beauty tip that truly works. I highly recommend using NYX’s Dark Circle Concealer if you have under-eye darkness – apply your regular concealer on top and voila! No more circles.
Dealing with acne is undeniably difficult. I can say from firsthand experience that it can take a toll on your confidence, but that is where the power of makeup comes in. Finding a foundation routine that works for you and beautifully covers up your skin’s imperfections can work wonders. Get inspired by watching Heidi Hamoud’s makeover on her friend, below.
This glowing, luminous look by Jade Marie would work beautifully for a black tie occasion. It’s all about that flawless skin. To achieve the look, she used Temptu Airpod Foundation for that airbrushed finish, and set it with Laura Mercier’s Translucent Powder.
Here is the famous Glam-Ma mentioned at the start of this post! Tea Flego’s grandmother is fierce. From the major lashes to her peachy-coral lips, everything about this look is amazing. Those full and fluttery lashes are Huda Beauty’s Lana #10.
Samer Khouzami is the unofficial Contour King. His contouring techniques are consistently creative and flawless. If you want to try this method yourself, grab a cream contour palette like this one by Anastasia, dot the product on and blend it all out with a BeautyBlender.
Don’t underestimate the power of good brows. Eyebrows frame your entire face, and it’s important to groom and take care of them. Cara Brook used Urban Decay’s Brow Beater Pencil in Dark Brown on her client, Sadie. She drew little hair-like strokes for a natural finish.
The before and after photos of April Lopes’ client aren’t dramatic – she was blessed with pretty flawless skin to begin with! – but it shows you can always use a bit of makeup to emphasize your features. Her client has striking blue eyes, so she lined them with a jet black pencil and applied false lashes to play up that area. For a black liner that won’t smudge or fade, try bareMinerals’ Round the Clock Eyeliner.
This bridal transformation by @MakeupByDianaa is a look that would flatter so many women on their big day. It’s natural, yet glam. Love that champagne shimmer on her lids, this falsies, the luminous highlight, everything.
There’s nothing more glam that a black cat eye and red lips, as seen on Viktoria Kostova here. If you’re looking for a fantastic red gloss, definitely try Anastasia’s Neon Apple. It’s the ideal summery red – vivid, bold and cheery. Plus, it’s so pigmented and smooth that you won’t have to touch it up all night.
Everything about this look is perfect, but the part that catches my eye is that stunning nose contour. @BrittanyBearMakeup used a shimmery, highlighter on the bridge of her client’s nose and contour powder length sides to create the illusion of a slimmer, perkier nose. I like using Becca’s Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector for my nose contour – nothing catches the light quite like it.
This is the power of makeup! Fantastic work by @LuxuryBrownBeauty – you can hardly tell that her client has any skin imperfections, yet the final look isn’t cakey at all. Absolutely inspiring.
You don’t need to be born with Cara Delevingne’s brows to rock them! Create the illusion of fuller eyebrows with a pomade, like NYX’s Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade. Complete the look with a classic smoky eye and false lashes. Dajana Tomanovic used Huda Beauty’s Naomi Mink Lashes for this look.
