IMG_2084

As a new season approaches, it’s time to give your makeup bag a makeover! Summer is all about laid-back, luminous beauty. From waterproof makeup to eyeliners, mascaras and lippies in fun colors, keep reading for the must-haves you need this summer.

aqua xl

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner: MUFE’s waterproof pencils are some of the best eyeliners on the market. They glide on so easily, stay put until you take it off, are richly pigmented and bright, don’t fade or crease – all in all, everything you could want from an eye pencil. While they come in a vast array of colors, I think you should have fun and go as bright as possible! Try M-30, a matte pastel green, or I-90, a striking, iridescent purple. ($21)

ysl mascara vinyl

YSL Mascara Vinyl Couture: Nothing says ‘summer’ like colored mascara. YSL’s new statement-making Mascara Vinyl Couture comes in classic colors like black and brown, plus exciting shades like fuchsia, blue and gold. YSL’s mascaras are exceptionally good – they always deliver volume, length and curl. These live up to that standard, and the color payoff is great. With many formulas, you can barely see the color, but these are richly pigmented and vivid. Definitely worth the splurge – the shimmery gold is especially intriguing. ($29)

bareminerals

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30: Free of silicone and oil, this face product by bareMinerals is ideal for the hot summer months. It combines the best of a tinted moisturizer, BB and CC cream, giving you buildable and breathable coverage…plus, SPF 30! It’s ideal for that flawless, yet natural finish that most people desire. Work it in with a brush or makeup sponge for beautiful complexion that will stay in place from day to night. ($29.50)

marc jacobs

Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator: This product may resemble a deodorant stick, but it could actually be the secret to your perfect, summer glow! This cream illuminator comes in one universally-flattering shade, and is so easy to apply. Swipe the sheer luminizer onto the high points of your face for a natural, light-from-within glow. Unlike powder formulas that are stunning, but undoubtedly look like makeup, this settles into your skin so seamlessly that people will wonder if your radiance is from a product…or just you. You woke up like this 😉 ($42)

sephora favorites

Sephora Favorites Bronze Bares All: Sephora released a set like this last year, and it was such a success that they brought it back again. Most people want to look sun-kissed, bronzed and glowing during the summer. If you don’t have time to spend all day at the beach, you can still get that fresh-from-vacation look with this set. It has everything: eyeliner, cream shadow, bronzer, highlighter, lipstick, gloss, nail polish…even self-tanner. The curated set features the best products from the hottest brands. I own this, and I can promise you I’ve used every single item in the kit. If you covet that bronzed look, this is a must-have. ($40)

becca

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush: If BECCA releases a new face product, I need it in my life. From their cult-status highlighting powders to their weightless Aqua Luminous Foundation, this brand always gets it right. Their latest collection of blushes are the perfect hybrid of cheek color and multi-dimensional shimmer. You can wear the blushes on their own, or use them as blush toppers over a matte formula to add an extra pop of sparkle. All six shades are beautiful, but my personal favorite is Camellia, a ballerina pink shade that gives that perfect, natural flush. ($34)

sephora balm

Sephora Collection Rouge Balm SPF 20: This was an impulse buy, but I can say with full confidence that it was one of my best beauty purchases of the year! I don’t know why people don’t talk about this more, or Sephora Collection products in general. The Sephora line is good – high-quality and innovative products at comparatively affordable prices. I love to wear bright lip colors during the summer, but look for formulas that are as lightweight as possible. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ll take a nourishing lip balm over a matte lipstick any day. I have the shade Gente Coral, and it is so pigmented for a lip balm. It has the color punch of a lipstick, but feels absolutely weightless and hydrating. The rich color can add major glam to an otherwise low-key daytime look. Effortless beauty at its best. ($12.50)

living proof

Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Oil: Is frizz a problem for you, especially during the humid summer months? If it is, you need this Living Proof oil. Living Proof is my number one haircare brand – every product I’ve tried from the line is phenomenal. Work a few pumps of this formula into damp hair post-shower, and let it air-dry and work its magic! No matter your hair type – thick, coarse, curly… – you’ll see a dramatic reduction in frizz and puffiness. ($20)

milk sunshine oil

Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil: Milk is arguably the hottest new brand out there. With sleek, modern packaging and innovative products, this brand has added a refreshing burst of creativity to the beauty world. One of their most beloved products is Sunshine Oil, a face and body oil packaged in a portable rollerball for on-the-go hydration. Packed with nourishing essential oils, you can use this product anywhere you need a boost. Hair, faces, nails, body…you name it. Tip: mix a drop with your face moisturizer for a luminous glow. ($38)

deborah lippmann

Deborah Lippmann Life’s A Beach Nail Lacquer Set: The brighter, the better – that’s my summertime nail polish motto! This tropics-inspired duo by Deborah Lippmann features two gorgeous, cheery colors. It would make a great gift, as well as a treat for yourself. I would use The Tide Is High, the bright blue, on my fingers for a fresh manicure, and Break 4 Love, the bubblegum pink, as the perfect complement on my toes. ($17)
